The startup, authorized by the US health regulatory body to commence the first human trial of its implant in the previous year, intends to utilize the technology to assist individuals suffering from paralysis.
In a post on X, Musk detailed how the implant establishes a connection between the brain and various electronic devices, highlighting its potential utility for individuals with physical disabilities.

Neuralink stated that the implants, constructed from “ultra-fine” threads, have the capability to transmit signals from the brain and link them to commands on an electronic device.

As per their official website, the company is dedicated to developing a “generalized brain interface to restore autonomy to those with unmet medical needs.” The exploratory study, known as PRIME (Precise Robotically Implanted Brain-Computer Interface), will encompass quadriplegic patients, individuals with spinal cord injuries, and those affected by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
Safety Measures:
Musk’s ambitious initiative to bring telepathy into existence has faced criticism, with the company being fined this month for breaching trial safety protocols. The $5-billion company was additionally accused of providing misleading information to investors regarding the safety of the technology, as animal testing results revealed instances of paralysis, seizures, and brain swelling in the study’s subjects.
